Black Wizard Live at The Roxy

So my friend and studio mate Johnny Taylor asked me if i'd be into working for a day with two buddies. I said yeah of course, and that I know two guys that would be down. I asked Adam and Eug and sure enough it's a go. So we meet up infront of the jamspace at 830 am thursday morning, get on the train. Eug grabs adams thigh and adam's reflex is obviously to punch straight infront of him and almost hit a lady in the ass. this part i missed because i was on the other side of the packed train reading about that cop that was selling pot on the job.

We get down to the infamous Roxy (where were working for the day) and no body's there except for one bartender and a little worldly cleaning guy smoking (inside the bar) and carrying around a bottle of booze filled with carpet cleaner.

Our job was to cover every square inch of the bar with white paper for the 21st annual graffiti party that night. So there we are, putting up 4000 feet of white paper with about 50 rolls of masking tape, on earth day no less. ouch. i hope someone was smart enough to recycle it the next day. anyways, the day was full of us cutting ourselves on pre-existing nails in the walls from previous parties, smelling the tape that "kinda smells like bunk shake", eating red burrito bowls, burning joints in the back alley and running to staples and getting funny looks for buying 15 rolls of masking tape.

and we ended the whole day off with going to buy adam a new pipe. he broke his other one packing a bowl in the bathroom.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

So we in Black Wizard have decided that we cannot manage ourselves anymore, despite how fun it might look, being in a band is a lot of hard work. A lot of hard work and tasks that we don't really have any idea how to do correctly. So as of last weekend we are being managed by Scott Roberts. (we tried to get Steven Segal but apparently he "doesn't do that anymore"). Now i know what you're thinking "oh Black wizard isn't gonna party anymore cause they're going legit" now hold on a minute, that's the furthest thing from the truth! The fact of the matter is now that we have a manager, we can party more! no more waiting around and fighting with the promoter to try and get paid. no more inter-band fights (well not really, nothing can stop that). but now all the shit that we do half-assed, will be done by a professional. And what a rad professional he is. Scott is rad, and that's that.



On another note, Adam beat Crime City the other day, let's give him a round of applause! although he'd rather we gave him a joint. And on another nother' note, Eug, Adam and I (johnny) are going to decorate the Roxy tomorrow for the annual Graffiti party. 8 hours of taping white paper to every square inch of that place, should be a fucking ball. Gotta pay the rent somehow eh?

hey yo, so i got this sweet electric Conn organ at the salvation army the other day. oh how it is sweet. i moved it to my studio, found the quarter inch output and set it up running through an analog delay, chorus and a phaser. (sometimes a flange). and it sounds deadly! im just running it through a 40 watt traynor 1x12 combo, but it rips man. this thing is the best. watch out for it on upcoming black wizard recordings such as mountain bitch and the next full length! heres a bit of a philip glass piece i recorded with it onto a loop station. me and adam are gonna get stoned and make soundwalls tonight.
